today i have started my “1000 origami cranes” project. after begging for the last origami set in a book store and didn’t get it, i started using plain paper, but things didn’t go too well. anyway, i got my first 50 sheets of origami paper (tks andrei) and have my first origami crane. and i have a request for an extra one, so there will be 1001.

according to a japanese legend, anyone who folds 1000 origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane. the 1000 cranes are ussualy assembled as 25 strings of 40. (wiki-info). on the right, how they are supposed to look like.
i don’t know how long it will take to make mine, nor i have a wish already in my mind. as a note from the first steps through this projects, after a couple of them i feel nausea. and my paper is not perfectly square.
on the left there are my first 5 cranes. didn’t need any video help for the fourth and fifth, however the grey one (the first) is the best looking of them all, mirror mirror on the wall.

i have added two more cranes to my project, three less than i had in mind, but this is how we do it when we also have financial situations to take care of. meanwhile, i have found out about folding trees 1000 crane project, you can read all about it here. today i have contributed with my recicled paper crane for their project (which will not be counted in my 1000). when/if my paper crane will be added to the collection, i will make sure to post a link here.
also, i have stumbled upon other people, all over the world, taking up on this challenge for 2009. among them, bobby casumbal, suzyqjenn, 1000 cranes for peace, 1000 cranes, cranes for cancer.
